Year is nearly over December 26, 2010

Ruby's quilt top was finished and taken to the quilting machine the end of November and picked up on Dec. 21.  I must say I rather like the orginal design.  My next goal is to frame 56 blocks of the Grandmothers flower garden appliqued onto white blocks.  The yellow center calls for the framing to be yellow. Then I shall take it to Joannie and her machine. The blocks were done by my Mother.  She passed in 1993.  I should be ashamed that they are not done into a quilt yet into a quilt.   I am hoping to reach 100 yrs of age.  I have 18 1/2yrs to  complete the job.  The  childrens Christmas Eve program was cute with a few minor incidents that were really funnies.  2 & 3yr olds will steal any show on earth.

Making a tripto Lake Havsau City so visit some friends.  They chaproned us to drive from Nebraska to Ohio so that we could apply our marriage licsense.  I needed my Mother's signature. They had only been married 7 months but my father-in-law felt better if we did not go alone.  Remember this was 1947.

AS we approach 2011 I pray that there will be a beginning of peace working so that we may move foward.
Our government will need some prayers.  I usually am an optimist but the GOP scare the dickens from me as well as the Tea Party  folks.  They are looking for blood.  And as usual when the GOP is in power the little guy will suffer.

before Christmas

Kinda got behind here.  For one old lady I have gotten to busy.  Guess that is what helps keep me young. But darn it does not make the "cracks" in my face go away.  I no longer have wrinkles--cracks.  One little guy in my Sunday School class calls them cracks.

The birth of our Lord is on the way.  The real meaning of Christmas gets lost in all the advertising and push on the TV.  I loved Christmas as a kid.  We did not have much but were happy.  We made a lot of our gifts and also the decorations on the tree.  No tree here only a ceramic one made by our deceased daughter in 1980 for use in our Airstream travel trailer.  Made a Christmas tree from our  cactus in the front.  After all this is the desert. .  Last week it was 88 degrees.  To warm for this time of year.

WHERE DOES THE TIME FLY TO?

The month of October is nearly over.  The library show was slow due to bad publicity.  Poor Dalene feels so bad.  A learning experience.  Life is made up of them.

The garage got cleaned today.  well sorta.  Bob has so much in there I wish he would sort and get rid of but pack rats just hate to give up stuff.  I must do more myself.

My garden is looking so good.  I am so proud.  from those seeds I shall have food and beautiful flowers.
My grandfather would be proud of me.

I must get back to Rubies quilt.  Should give her a call but long phone calls are not my best pleasure.the SS. children's program for the holidays is in the planning stage and projects for our mission also.  Dear Lord help me to make good progress and people happy.

My garden growth

It can cool down anytime it wants to now.  I have almost every window full of small containers with veggies and flowers of one kind or another.  Plus my African violets.  Blooming beautifully  had an experience this morning---A young girl from my church is in the Detention center for breaking her parole.
She and her sister became involved with some friends that were not to smart.  Gangs.  That says it all.  They both were sentenced to a stay in the center.Got out and the temptation was great to be with old friends and that got both of them in trouble.  not once but several times. #2 sister (17) is now out and doing the right thing.  #1 sister (18) is still there but on work release now.  I could not see #1 as planned hope to be able to next week. She is such a really good young woman who has finished herhigh school studies and graduated.  If I have my way she is headed to higher education.  The girls are Latino and there are lots of young folks are here that can lead them to the wrong path.  I hope that I can change their minds.  Back to my sewing room.

Monday morning

My day began at 6AM outside so the temps of the later day did not cook my brains. Dug dirt from my garden and filled pots to transplant my starters. Bob is sure that I am nuts. He does not like to work in the soil and grow things. These days he does not like much of anything.I wish that I could get him interested in something!!!!! It will be just grand when the cooler weather arrives. Not long now.Time to get into the sewing room. My spot where I am boss. Happy Day to all who may read this.

september 2010

I must be crazy to think that I can do two Blogs. At my age I'll try anything if I do not hurt anyone or myself.

Of course Sunday is church time. The Children's Church is running very well and for the time being we have all bases covered. Parents are glad to be helpers or at least most of them. I wonder sometimes when God will tell me, Your to old to do this so quit. But the children are such a part of my life. Since I have lived away from my grandchildren and great grandchildren These cute kids take their place. Besides it is only for less then an hour a week.

Am sewing & tatting as much as possible. Show time is coming soon. Joyce had better get home soon. My little plants need to be transplanted. They are for the garden but we need cooler weather before they can go out side. To the sewing machine. Happy Sunday.
